Kids Community Service Resources

Kids community service projects don’t always have much of a budget. In order to make the most of what you have, and to help your project make the maximum impact you need to find good and inexpensive tools to help you organize and promote your project. Many times a kid’s project grows to the point that they want to take the next step in terms of growing their project and possible pursuing their own 501(c)3 status. We have put together a list of resources to help you along the way with your project. We are constantly updating this, if you have something that you like and works well for you please let us know so we can share it.

Digital Design (Logo, Business Cards, Fliers, Displays, etc.) Fiverr is a great place to find someone to find someone to do your design work for CHEAP ($5 and up)! They have done our logo, business cards, fliers, and show display designs is a great place if you are trying to make graphics on your own for social media or fliers.

Videos is a cool easy to use interface to make easy videos complete with music. You can even add your own voice over if you want.

Animoto is another super easy platform to make a video out of your photos.

Social Media is a great tool to help manage your social media activity around your project and schedule posts to make sure everyone knows what is going on.

Want to start a non-profit and grow your project into something bigger?

Your project may be getting a lot of traction, and you want to take it to the next level. The path to obtaining 501(c)3 status can be a long one.

  • Are you considering filing for 501(c)3 status?
    • You may need to seek legal support from an attorney specializing in non-profits.
    • If you are willing to give it a shot on your own, it can be done. Check out’s book How to Form a Nonprofit Corporation. It does a great job of walking you through the filing process step by step. It also gives you templates for other necessary documents.
  • There are a few more things to consider if you are going to pursue your own non-profit. You will need to:
    • Register with your state and comply with any specific state regulations.
    • If you plan to solicit donations you need to check the fundraising registration requirements for each state. You can usually find them with an internet search, but it can get confusing. If you are going to be soliciting in multiple states also has a good book to use as a reference called, Nonprofit Fundraising Registration that does a pretty good job at laying out the different state requirements.
